Babyhood sleep patterns

My baby is seven months old now, he cries a lot ond becomes distressed at bedtime. It is almost impossible to get him to sleep, why is this?

If your baby is crying a lot, you first need to rule out any medical problems, so make an appointment at the doctor's for a check-up.
Crying for no apparent reason may mean your baby has a nervous or anxious disposition, or is easily upset by something you are not aware of. The most important thing is to stick to your routine, make sure he has his meals at regular times and that he sleeps and eats in calm, quiet surroundings. He may still be having acid reflux problems at seven months, so try waiting a little after he has eaten before putting him to bed, keep him upright for a while to help his digestion. Make sure his bedroom is quiet and not too hot (18°-19° max). Babies sometimes need bedtime rituals' to get them off to sleep, so start by making sure he has his favourite teddy bear or comforter, try a lullaby or some soft music and speak to him in a soft, calming tone of voice to lull him to sleep.
Try to avoid using medicine to help him sleep. They are rarely necessary in young children and could do more harm than good
