The Ergonomic Cot

BABYHOOD ERGONOMIC COT – AUSTRALIA’S FIRST and safest PURPOSE BUILT CHILDCARE COT

Just better for your back with the unique Australian Patented and Design Registered Cot was designed to reduce the stress placed on carers and mums by increasing the base height and making access to the child easier. The design allows carers to get closer to the child to reduce the impact of the load.

Why a specific Cot for this industry?

In mid 2011, Work Safe Victoria discovered carers were suffering from multiple skeletal injuries caused by the repeated manual handling and bending into cots Australia. The injuries caused vary but are caused primarily by the repeated bending into lower-level cots. Work Safe Victoria proceeded to issue Early Learning Centres infringement notices and required centres to change their cots to a more suitable cot to reduce the injuries caused.

The options for Early Learning Centres were limited to Cots that did not meet Australian Standards or metal cots which didn’t meet the comfort and assurance requirements of parents and carers.

The next step . . .

In consultation with various associations including Work Safe Victoria, Kindergarten Parents Victoria (KPV), Good Start Childcare, Fair Trading Victoria, Fair Trading Queensland and one of Australia’s leading ergonomists Chris Fitzgerald, babyhood took up the challenge of developing a Cot specific for the this industry’s needs. This was no easy task as it required new innovation, new technology and the consensus of all the related parties as to what was best for carers, babies and parents.

Almost 14 months later babyhood has designed and manufactured the NEW babyhood Ergonomic Cot, which was proudly launched at the KPV Conference in Melbourne.

The unique Australian Patented and Design Registered Cot was designed to reduce the stress placed on carers by increasing the base height and making access to the child easier. The design allows carers to get closer to the child to reduce the impact of the load.

Good Back Cot

Unlike traditional cots this expertly designed cot has a higher mattress level and a front panel that allows you to safely reach your baby as they grow, without falling into your baby’s cot or pulling your back out – so it is not just good looking but better for your back, shoulders and hips – especially if you suffer from a back injury or you are unable to bend extensively.

No Tipping

Unlike other high profile cots with higher mattress levels, this amazing cot will not tip over during use. It is the only ergonomically designed timber cot to be tested to the tip test in the Australian standard for commercial cots – so it is the safest ergonomic cot available.

Evacuation Cot

Doubles as an evacuation cot with factory fitted heavy-duty castors that will seamlessly support an emergency evacuation.

Bite until Your Heart’s Content

Keep the little biters at bay with our safer BPA-free teething rails that are super discreet so your cot will look better for longer.

Good Things Come in Small Packages

A mini version of the amazing original Ergonomic Cot, so great for small compact spaces, early learning centres, grandma’s house or your apartment.

Back to Nature with Real Timber

Created with solid A grade New Zealand timber so it will endure the most robust toddlers as they grow, sleep and play.

Sustainable for Our Earth

Made with timber that is grown sustainably in plantations so we do not deplete the natural ecosystems and care for the earth that our children will one day inherit.

No Tipping

Unlike other high profile cots with higher mattress levels, this amazing cot will not tip over during use. It is the only ergonomically designed timber cot to be tested to the tip test in the Australian standard for commercial cots – so it is the safest ergonomic cot available.

Safe Sleeping Practices

When using a babyhood cot we recommend that you follow safe sleeping practices. Whilst we appreciate and respect a parent’s right to make the right choices for their family, there are guidelines recommended by the medical experts for safer sleeping for your babies because we all want happy and healthy bubs.

These guidelines include:

Always sleep baby on their back from birth, not on their tummy or side.

Make sure there are no loose objects or extra linen on your baby’s cot.

Make sure your baby’s mattress is firm and clean.

Lay your baby on a flat and uninclined surface.

If you have questions about how to use our products please call us or email us, we are always happy to guide you to create a safe environment for your baby using our products.

Kaylula Sova Cot

“Super trendy and something I usually wouldn’t have the confidence to go for. It starts as a circle bassinet and grows as the baby grows into an oval cot (Yes Fox is already in this size – he is a big boy!) and then it turns into a toddler bed and eventually a little table and chairs set” via Instagram

Timber is a natural product; that is part of its beauty, so a colour variation, knots in the timber and grain pattern are both natural and to be expected. We do not colour match timber during fabrication as the waste from such practices would be environmentally irresponsible, so you will see some variations in your products. We believe this is what makes our timber products naturally beautiful.
